POSITION SUMMARY:

Evaluates and plans treatment programs for speech/language and/or cognitive deficits for patients in a hospital setting; provides counseling and guidance to patients regarding their communication skills.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Licensure/Certification/Registrations: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech/Language Pathology from the American Speech/Language Hearing Association.BLS for the Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association required.
  • Education: Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology
  • Experience: Hospital setting preferred.

  • Operates the following equipment:
  • Audiometer
  • Tape recorder
  • Computer
  • Telephone
  • Video equipment
  • Suction machine.
  • Performs basic wheelchair handling skills.

Abilities:
  1. Determining time, place, and sequence of operations or action to be taken on the basis of analysis of data; executing determinations and/or reporting on events.
  2. Dealing with individuals in terms of their total personality in order to advise, counsel, and/or guide them with regard to problems that may be resolved by clinical or other professional principles.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Selects, administers, scores and interprets diagnostic tests to evaluate speech/language/cognitive skills.
  2. Sets short term and long term treatment goals.
  3. Designs and implements individualized treatment plan, including number of treatments and length of time needed to achieve goals.
  4. Communicates with treatment team regarding evaluation results, treatment program, and goals.
  5. Participates with treatment team in discharge planning.
  6. Conducts group treatment sessions.
  7. Completes required medical records documentation.
  8. Educates family and patient regarding evaluation results, treatment program and goals.
  9. Provides services to adolescent, adult and geriatric patients and adapts the plan of care as needed.
  10. Follows hospital infection control policies, including body substance isolation and proper hand hygiene before and after contact with patients, handling of food, and after hands are contaminated with any body fluids, secretions or excretions.
  11. Understands his/her responsibility to inform patients, family and visitors of the importance of hand hygiene in all environments.

Craig Hospital Benefits:

Per-Diem Positions:

Employees who are not benefit eligible due to working less than 24 hours/ week or being Per-Diem are able to participate in Craig Hospital's 403B Retirement plan through Empower Retirement. Additionally, you would be able to take advantage of the programs offered through the Employee Assistance Programs.

Salary Range: $38.77/ Hour - $55.84/ Hour + 18% Per-Diem Differentials
