Job Description

We are looking for a Canning Line Helper on 3rd shift in our adhesives plant in Carlisle, PA. The Canning Line Helperproperly packages a variety of adhesives produced at Mixers 1,2, and 4. These products include, but are not limitedtobonding adhesives,Low VOC bonding adhesives,and PVC bondingadhesive,etc.The Canning Line Helperalsoassistwithtraining,ensuring specifications are met, andmaintaininga clean and safe work environment. The Canning Line Helperserves as the Canning Line Operatorduring times when coverage is needed andmay be asked to perform other duties as assigned by management.

Duties Responsibilities

  • Assistthecanning LineOperator in packaging a variety of adhesives in1,and 5 gallonpails as well as55-gallondrums
  • Put 1-gallon cans in boxes and stack on skids
  • Stack5-gallon cans on skids
  • Band skids of finished materials
  • Use fork truck to take finished goods to warehouse, bring out raw materials, and packing materials asrequired
  • Put stir sticks/rollers, etc., with finished packages asrequired
  • Make boxes using an air powered staple gun
  • Maintain proper housekeeping in work area
  • Cleaningthecanning line conveyors and vacuum hoist
  • Maintainaccurateinventory levels
  • Fill out necessary production/QA paperwork
  • Date code pails and skids
Will berequiredto perform other duties asrequested, directed, or assigned.

  • Plant ambient temperature in the summer matches outside temperature
  • Plant is heated in the winter
  • Exposure to solvent fumes when cleaning (PPE Provided)
  • Pinch points on moving mechanical equipment
  • Sharp edges on box cutters
  • Heavy equipment including fork truck and hoist
  • Uniforms are issued and laundered by company
  • Can be fast paced
Physical Requirements:
  • Climbing– must be able to climb into and out of the fork truck
  • Stooping– when placing finished product cartons on pallets
  • Kneeling– during some portions of clean out process
  • Crouching– when filling5 gallonpails
  • Reaching– reach to get empty pails and cases
  • Standing– must stand for majority of the shift
  • Walking– walking tomovefinished product totheskid andtoget empty containersand labels
  • Pushing– push full cases on skids
  • Pulling– pull full casesoffconveyor
  • Lifting– lift full boxes or cans from table or floor onto skid (Cans can weigh up to60lbs.), Vacuum hoist is also used toassistlifting asrequired
  • Grasping– must grasp pails before filling and boxing
  • Talking and Hearing– communicate with other members of plantfrequently
  • Sight– must be able to see warnings, hazards, and SDS

  • PPE required for use of specific chemicals will beprovidedwhen needed


Requirements

Essential Full Performance Knowledge:Knowledge required includes, but is not limited to, processing specifications, job breakdowns/SOP’s, operation of fork truck with a valid license, maintain inventory records, packaging of skids, housekeeping.

Education/Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Experience:2 years of manufacturing or warehousing experience
