Starting pay for this position is $21.75 to 24.08/hour depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Operates a municipal motorized street sweeper, and a variety of other motorized and specialized maintenance equipment and vehicles, hand and power tools, lawn equipment, snowplow and salt spreader.
- Performs routine and preventative maintenance tasks on sweeper truck such as inspecting and replacing the sweeper brooms or rotary brushes, checking hydraulic systems, and addressing wear and tear to ensure the longevity and reliability of the street sweeper.
- Interprets and has knowledge of city geography including layout of routes using the asset management program; maintains logs of daily street sweeping activities to track production.
- Engages and informs residents about the sweeper operations program to promote understanding of how this program impacts water quality.
- Responds to emergency maintenance and snow removal operations as needed.
Qualifications
Experience: Construction and maintenance experience and a mechanical aptitude is are preferred.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Licenses & Certifications: A valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with air brake endorsement and a favorable driving record are required.
Environmental or Physical Demands: Work involves sitting for prolonged periods of time and exposure to vibration, road dust and other contaminates. Also requires exposure to cold, wind or heat, traffic pollution such a dust, particulate matter, ozone, and carbon dioxide. Works in all types of weather conditions and navigates through traffic, including hazardous traffic conditions while working independently or as part of a larger crew.
