Work Description:

BluePath Labs is looking for a experienced Software Engineer to help us build data-rich applications supporting a diverse set of public and private sector clients. As a BluePath Software Engineer, you will work with dynamic and accomplished teammates to develop, test, and deploy secure, data-driven applications for web platforms. The ideal candidate will have a great eye for software design and UX, and pay attention to the details that take an application from 'good' to 'great'.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain secure, cloud-based applications that integrate multiple complex data sources and machine-learning capabilities.
  • Collaborate with customers, analysts, engineers, and other stakeholders to define system performance requirements and interfaces.
  • Ensure the highest standards of code quality by writing automated tests, supporting manual testing, and participating in thorough code reviews.
  • Following project plans and providing scoping/timing estimates for appropriate tasks, and pro-actively communicating issues that may affect them.
  • Build secure applications that meet U.S. Government cybersecurity requirements.
  • Design and develop database management systems, data manipulation and visualization techniques, and access control services and interfaces.
  • Prepare appropriate configuration and change management documentation that provides the detailed workflow and diagrams that describe input, output, logic, and deployment schemes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • U.S. citizenship.
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience building data-intensive applications using JavaScript/TypeScript and Python.
  • Extensive experience implementing automated testing.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and work on different parts of a software stack.
  • Experience developing and deploying containerized applications to cloud environments (Azure or AWS).
  • Experience designing and implementing OLTP and OLAP databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Clickhouse).
  • Experience with database schema design, query optimization, scaling, and backups.
  • Self-motivated and curious, with the ability to identify, evaluate, and implement state-of-the-art software systems.
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for building a positive team culture.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Vue or equivalent JavaScript frameworks.
  • Experience with API development in Python using FastAPI or similar frameworks.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD tools and workflows.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity compliance frameworks, including NIST 800-171 and CMMC.
  • Experience developing applications for Government-managed secure cloud environments (e.g., CloudOne, PlatformOne). Direct experience building applications at IL4 or above would be a major plus.
  • Experience building authorization/authentication systems that integrate with CAC/PIV cards and Active Directory systems.
