Encore Talent Solutions is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer - Intermediate for an end client requirement. A Business Intelligence Engineer- Intermediate serves as a SME for a governance area, supporting data, content, process and procedure. Under general direction, formulates and defines system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop or modify moderately complex information systems. Prepares detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Designs, codes, tests, debugs, documents, and maintains those programs. Designs, builds, debugs various dashboards and reports to support the governance area. Competent to work on most phases of applications systems analysis and programming activities but requires instructions and guidance in other phases.

Job Duties:

  • Project Participation/Completion: Participates in projects as assigned by manager/director. Works under supervision to complete work in established timelines. Utilizes project management methodology to assist in developing project tasks and work closely with project manager to resolve issues, remove barriers and avoid delays and surprises.
  • Development: Create and configure interfaces to provide desired solutions, i.e., dashboards, data analytics, and report generation. Develop training and education on optimum use of end-user solutions.
  • Product Knowledge: Serves as a senior subject matter expert on content, processes, and procedures associated with the product. Maintains in-depth knowledge of the product throughout the system's lifecycle. Maintains in-depth knowledge and expertise in the technical tools used to support the system. Documents and leads resolution for data quality issues. Participates and documents Data definition thru various project lifecycle.
  • Business Relationship: Participate in meetings with the customer/stakeholder to evaluate, plan, and develop/re-engineer current or new reports. Participates in the interdisciplinary discussion and brainstorming events to develop new functionality/workflows.
  • Report Quality & Testing: Tests reports and reporting functionality in coordination with end users to assure data quality.
  • Process Documentation: Document internal procedures.
  • Mentoring: Mentors less experienced team members in system support, administration methods, processes, and implementation of those methods.

Qualifications:

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

Associate degree: Associate degree requirement can be waived if the candidate has four or more years of certification and experience supporting the applicable application.

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Experience with reporting/ BI Tools (Power BI, Tableau, Cognos, Sisense, Looker, Qlik)
  • In depth understanding of Database management systems, OLAP, ETL, Data Lake.
  • Proficient in DAX, Power BI Service (SaaS) , API automation.
  • Must be experienced in developing custom visuals for PowerBI.
  • Data Modelling (Kimball / Inmon )
  • Data Cleansing/Normalization
  • Data Visualization (Charts, Graphs, Scatter)
  • Four years or more years of related information systems experience

Briefly describe two or three typical problems this position must resolve to achieve the end results listed in Section III.

  1. Design software solutions to business problems.
  2. Build/Document KPI to track various service line metrics

Describe unusual working conditions such as physical effort, exposure to environmental conditions and exposure to hazards.

1. Ability to properly lift and carry short distances, approximately 50 lbs.

2. Must have own transportation to serve physician offices and the Medical Center's remote locations.

3. Must be able to provide rotation on-call support.

4. Must be able to work off shift and weekend hours on special occasions for scheduled and unscheduled system downtimes.

Good organizational and technical skills are required since there are normally many projects going on simultaneously. The ability to prioritize tasks and follow through on each of them is important to this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in field related to Business, Computer Science, or Healthcare and current certification for one or more application modules.
  • Certification in an Epic Clarity Data Model and/or Cogito (Caboodle) models /fundamentals a plus.
  • Demonstrated Extensive knowledge with building dashboards/reports for customers.
  • Comfortable working with large data sets.
  • Extensive knowledge of healthcare information systems. Epic Clarity and/or Epic Cogito Data Model experience preferred.
  • Five plus years of experience supporting large-scale systems.
