Job Summary:

This position supports the Program Director with clerical and activity related duties at the Sumner Senior Center. The Administrative Assistant is the first point of contact to our center and will provide seniors and vendors with information about the center as well as community resources available.

Job Qualifications:
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Products with an emphasis in Excel and Publisher.
  • Knowledge of proper English usage: grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
  • Strong interpersonal as well as organizational skills.
  • Proficient use of telephone, copier, printer, and other office equipment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with little direction.
  • Experience planning and organizing special events.
  • High-quality customer service standards to various clients and volunteers.
  • Experience working with senior populations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Answer telephone and assist with all member questions.
  • Greet and assist members with check-in process.
  • Assist with daily management of the Center, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Plan and coordinate activities with Program Director.
  • Manage trips and activities including reminders and collection of funds for the center.
  • Create flyers for trips and events.
  • Manage registration process for trips and events.
  • Update and maintain member contact information.
  • Prepare monthly calendar of events.
  • Assist with set-up and takedown for special events and daily activities.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records and files.
  • Maintain inventory control of office supplies.
  • Perform clerical duties according to standard operating procedures.
  • Provide information about, and referrals for, elder services and benefits.
  • Assist with special assignments as assigned.
