We are a non-profit community organization that offers a wide range of services for every phase of life, from children to older adults.

At our Acute Care Services locations we care for clients mental and physical health needs in a group home setting to ensure that they receive the proper treatment and care. The RN and LPN are responsible for ensuring the safety of our clients and the follow through of medical treatment by overseeing the administration of medications, checking vitals, and working with staff members and therapeutic treatment teams to achieve established goals. This position is full time Monday-Friday 1st shift

What we're looking for:

  • Valid Alabama State Nursing License - Current
  • Prefer a minimum two years of Nursing experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
What you'll be doing:
  • Adheres to the Center’s philosophy of care, professional ethics and other standards of policies and procedures.
  • Utilize the nursing process in assessing, planning, evaluating and providing care to clients.
  • Enter documentation into our Electronic Medical Records System.
  • Interface with local laboratories to process ordering/requisitioning lab tests (per provider) or obtaining results from tests.
  • Obtain and record vital signs.
  • In lieu of provider’s absence, conduct assessments of clients’ mental status to include homicidal/suicidal ideation, appearance/grooming, affect, mood, energy level, rate/pitch of speech, perceptual disturbances and physical status.
  • Medication monitoring to include assessing the effectiveness of given medications, changes in symptoms since last visit, inquire about over the counter medications, observations of possible side effects and document in client electronic chart.
  • Educate client and family on medication, possible interactions and side effects in addition to the importance of taking the medication.
  • Conduct as requested by the Medical Supervisor/Division Director/Medical Director- Monthly Psychoeducation Group for Day Treatment Program.
  • Maintain and monitor medication samples.
  • Complete client documentation per Center and State policies/procedures and standards in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate and assess Center medical emergencies.
  • Collaborate with Center staff regarding client wellbeing, and work with outside agencies as requested.
  • Assist with Injection Clinic.
  • Complete Prior Authorizations, Patient Assistance Program prescriptions and forms/letters requested by clients.
  • Other nursing duties as assigned by the Medical Supervisor/Division Director/Medical Director
  • Full-time, 1st shift Monday-Friday
Miscellaneous:
  • Maintain licensure in the State of Alabama
  • Complete and maintain documentation in a timely manner
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and use effective listening and communication skills both verbal and written, especially on Injection Clinic days
  • Ability to walk throughout the facility
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations
  • Ability to provide a safe environment and promote quality care through adherence to established standards of care and facility policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Complete tasks as assigned by program manager or his/her designee.
