Summary This position is located in the Division of Administration (DOA), Corporate Services Branch, Support Services Section, Special Events and Hospitality Unit of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides nation wide guidance and technical support to event sponsors for seminars, conferences and special events for FDIC program officials and staff. Additional selections may be made from this vacancy announcement to fill identical vacancies that occur subsequent to this announcement. Responsibilities Provide guidance and technical support to event sponsors and team for seminars, conferences and special events. Manages the planning process to ensure successful execution of events. Coordinates large special events that are very complex in nature and require multiple services that are within the Special Events and Hospitality Staff mission; food services, student lodging services, classrooms and audio-visual requirements. Develops and implements operating procedures and interprets FDIC policies as they pertain to conference and event planning. Manages oversight of high dollar value and complex government contracts. Assembles and prepares cost estimates for the event and provides the information directly to the client and management for final review and approval. Serves as team lead and provides leadership and guidance to the team. Provides outstanding customer service and the ability to build and maintain relationships, both internally and externally, with all levels of management. Prepare reports and maintain records of work accomplishments and administrative information, as required, and coordinate the preparation, presentation and communication of work-related information to the supervisor. Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) required. Qualifications Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional qualifications information can be found here. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG-12 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience leading, planning and coordinating event activities that may be conducted in-person or virtually and working with government contracts as either an oversight manager, key point of contact with a government contractor or a contract technical monitor.
