Job Summary

The Clinical Education Coordinator plans, coordinates, and implements general orientation programs for nursing and clinical support positions. The Clinical Education Coordinator evaluates continuing education and competency programs offered to all hospital employees, especially nursing personnel.

Job Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement new nurse orientation and other clinical or clinical support onboarding education.
  • Partner with nursing leadership in assessing clinical education needs, planning, implementing, and delivering continuing education programs for hospital personnel.
  • Serve as a point of contact for schools of nursing or other clinical programs to discuss student clinical rotations and coordinate placement based on unit availability.
  • Facilitate student orientation as needed or required.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate certification courses and oversee the recertification of professional staff.
  • Assist in maintaining education documentation of employees via database or hard copy documentation.
  • Provide reports to management on continuing education programs as needed or required.
  • Assess the success of training programs and modify programs, as needed to drive clinical competency of hospital staff.
  • Write, edit, and publish hospital nursing policies.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of American Heart Association courses for the hospital.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
  • Minimum Required: Bachelors in Nursing
  • Preferred: Master's in Nursing
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum Required: Three (3) years of clinical experience in hospital setting
  • Preferred: Five (5) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting. Experience developing and delivering both didactic simulated clinical education programs requiring skills demonstration in an acute hospital setting and experience managing learning databases.
License/Certification Requirements

Minimum:
  • Registered Nurse valid to practice in the state of Indiana
  • BLS (American Heart Association
  • ACLS (American Heart Association) within six months of hire into the position
  • PALS (American Heart Association) within six months of hire into the position
Preferred:
  • Instructor certifications for BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA)
