GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Early On Speech Language Pathologist Social evaluates children through the age of three (3) years old to determine eligibility for Early On and Michigan Mandatory Special Education. Provides consultation and support to other direct service staff regarding implementation evidence based practices to improve student outcomes. Provides direct service to infants and toddlers eligible for Michigan Mandatory Special Education. This is primarily a home based program that provides eligibility evaluations and intervention services following the P-CCS school calendar with an additional 4 weeks in the summer months.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Valid Michigan Speech-Language Pathology License.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood development.
3. Knowledge of Early On process preferred.
4. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with students, staff members, parents and community

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned.)

? Provides Early Intervention Services Utilizing a Primary Service Provider Model. ? Works as part of a multidisciplinary evaluation team to determine special education eligibility for infants and toddlers.
? Serves as the Early On Service Coordinator for children on their caseload. ? Works collaboratively with parents and providers utilizing a transdisciplinary approach to gain an understanding of the infant or toddler's development.
? Observes and assesses infants and toddlers in the natural environment (home, community setting or child care setting) to gain information about child and family needs. ? Works collaboratively with parents and staff in developing Individual Family Service Plans and outcomes.
? Conducts periodic and annual Individualized Family Service Plans.
? Works collaboratively with parents and staff in adapting learning activities and tasks to meet each child's individual needs.
? Provide individual and group intervention to eligible infants, toddlers and their families. ? Maintains accurate case records and documentation meeting the requirements Part C of IDEA. ? Connects families and child care providers to recommended services.
? Documents, on a regular basis, children's progress using assessment tools; monitoring through observations/evaluation and/or collecting data. Uses student progress data to improve instruction and service provision.
? Collaborates with Early On staff for the purpose of providing information on speech-language development and interventions.
? Understands and intentionally uses formative assessment in the home to guide intervention.
? Collects, analyzes, and interprets various formal and informal assessments and evaluation strategies to evaluate and modify interventions to support the educational program. ? Provides services to students in ways that build upon individual strengths and offers students maximum opportunities to participate in the planning and direction of their own learning experience.
? Research resources and methods for the purpose of determining the appropriate approach for addressing child needs.
? Performs billing functions for Medicaid reimbursement.
? Participates in building and district level staff meetings, in-service activities, staff development/special programs, school improvement teams and planning committees as appropriate to the assignment.
? Adheres to District policies and procedures as well as professional, ethical and legal standards of practice.
? Participates in building and district level professional development, maintains appropriate certification and qualifications and keeps current in changing pedagogy.
? Protects the confidentiality of student records and releases personal data in accordance with state law and board policies.
? Exhibits emotional stability, exercises good judgment and makes decisions in accordance with board policies and administrative guidelines, with minimum supervision.
? Works cooperatively and communicates with district and constituent district staff, students and parents/guardians.
? Conducts behavior to demonstrate collegiality and professionalism.
? Supports a team-based approach to problem solving.
? Performs such other tasks as may from time to time be assigned by the supervisor. ? Maintains accurate records and appropriate reports.

EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
