R&D Senior Mechanical Engineer

Engineer III, Mechanical position
Lead a mechanical team in an assigned project and assist the technical lead in managing and adhering to project timeline.
What will you do?
Generates/provides conceptual proposals to support mechanical design reviews.
Provide/guide team on mechanical architecture and coordinate with design center on finalizing industrial design.
Implement/review/approve detailed design using 3-dimensional modeling and 2-dimensional detail drawings.
Proficient in 3D CAD modeling, preferably Pro-Engineer and Solidworks.
Establish modular design and full product bill of material structure.
Create/review/approve sub-assembly test plans and reports if any.
Ensure team designs are fully integrated into mechanical architecture and design robustness.
Review team members' designs and suggest enhancements if necessary.
Ability to work with vendors on design for manufacturability and with suppliers/vendors on cost negotiation to achieve product Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).
Good understanding of design-to-cost targets on mechanical architecture.
Use CFD to study airflow and thermal characteristics of the system.
Experience applying Risk Management methodologies such as DFMEA and Risk/Hazard analysis.
Contribute to technology and innovation in the R&D portal.
Support and assign to technology development if any.
Education & Experience
Degree/Master in Mechanical Engineering is required. Proven experience in product development life cycle.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Designing casting, machining, plastics molding, and sheet metal parts with good design for manufacturability (DFM) practices.
Basic to advanced geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
Completed and led, as a mechanical lead, at least one product life cycle design.
Good knowledge in mechanism & pneumatics.
Proficiencies Preferred
Good knowledge in automation and control systems.
Experience in CFD/FLOW simulation in analyzing flow/thermal characteristics.
Experience in Opto-mechanical design.
Experience in CAD wire routing.
Proficient in mechanical design in medical or life sciences product development in R&D environment.
