Chief Purpose of this positionThe Department of Neurosurgery at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Neurosurgeon with fellowship training/specialty focus in Complex Spine/Spinal Deformity neurosurgery. The position is for collateral faculty appointment at academic level commensurate per experience. Position expectations include coordination and management of a complex spine program as well as teaching and participation in multidisciplinary clinical measures.This position is a full-time faculty position as a Complex Spine/SpinalDeformity Surgeon in the department of Neurosurgery. The faculty member willprovide patient care, engage in medical student and neurosurgery resident andfellow education, and coordinate and mange surgical aspects of spinal research.Position ResponsibilitiesClinicalPrimary clinical responsibilities include care of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Candidates with appropriate training and experience may be asked to provide adult/generalneurosurgical services.TeachingThe faculty member will be expected to teach medical students, neurosurgery residents (and those from other Departments), and fellows.ResearchThefaculty member will be expected to conduct research and/or clinical trials inan academic setting with other PIs, learners, and students.
