Chief Purpose of this position

This position is an openrank full-time faculty position as a functional surgeon in the Department ofNeurosurgery. The faculty member will provide patient care, engage in medicalstudent and neurosurgery resident and fellow education, and coordinate andmange patients within the DBS and epilepsy programs.

Position Responsibilities

ClinicalPrimary clinical responsibilities include care of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Candidates with appropriate training and experience may be asked to provide adult/generalneurosurgical services.
TeachingThe faculty member will be expected to teach medical students, neurosurgery residents (and those from other Departments), and fellows.
ResearchThefaculty member will be expected to conduct research and/or clinical trials inan academic setting with other PIs, learners, and students.
ServiceFaculty member will serve on departmental, School of Medicine, and/or University committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field, e.g., reviewer, conference organizer, etc.

Required Qualifications
  • BC/BE in Neurosurgery
  • Fellowship training in functional neurosurgery
  • Experience in a clinical setting
  • Musthold/obtain a valid license to practice medicine in the state of Virginia
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications
  • Competency in general/adult Neurosurgery
