ICI Services is an Employee-Owned Company providing Engineering & Integration, Systems Acquisition, Information Warfare, and In-Service Sustainment support to government customers. We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to support our Navy customer in Washington, DC.

The ideal Candidate will have experience with commercial shipbuilding programs such as the American Bureau shipping Standards, Military Sealift command shipbuilding programs, or US Coast Guard Ship building programs. Experience in Structural Engineering in-service design on US Navy, or Coast Guard ships is preferred. The candidate must hold a degree in Naval, Marine, or Structural engineering or related field. A remote/hybrid work schedule can be accommodated with the approval from our Navy Customer.

Security Clearance: Applicant must be eligible to hold an active Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET personnel security clearance.

Position/Job Description:

As a Senior-Level Structural Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in providing engineering and technical support for various shipbuilding activities. Your expertise will encompass concept studies, feasibility studies, preliminary design activities, contract design activities, detail design and construction activities, independent design reviews, in-service ship design and engineering activities, shipboard installation support, and special studies related to ships, boats, craft, ship systems, and shipboard equipment. Concept Studies and Feasibility Studies: Conduct analysis and contribute to concept and feasibility studies related to electrical systems for ships, boats, and craft.

Additional Duties: Structural Integrity Analysis: Perform detailed structural analysis and assessments to ensure the integrity and safety of ship structures, including hulls, decks, bulkheads, and other critical components. Material Selection: Collaborate with material specialists to select suitable materials for shipbuilding projects, considering durability, weight, and cost-effectiveness. Ship Stability Analysis: Conduct ship stability assessments to ensure vessels' stability under various operating conditions and cargo loading scenarios. Quality Control: Implement stringent quality control measures during the construction phase to maintain adherence to design specifications and regulatory standards. Structural Modifications: Evaluate and propose structural modifications or improvements to enhance ship performance and operational capabilities. Naval Architecture Support: Collaborate with naval architects to integrate structural design elements seamlessly with overall ship design. Interface Coordination: Work closely with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of structural elements with electrical, mechanical, and systems components. The employee shall perform research and work along with USCG, ABS, and other key stakeholders, such as the Military Sealift Command (MSC).

Experience Requirements: A minimum of 7 years of experience in DoD/Navy program management, Government technical management, or Industry business management. Familiarity with DoD/DoN procedures and Policies (DoD 5000 process); Military Sealift Command procedures and processes; Supervisory experience; experience communicating with SES/Flag level personnel; ship building experience desired. Experience in Commercial Ship Building programs, Military Sealift Command Shipbuilding programs, or Coast Guard ship building programs is required.

Educational & Certification Requirements: Bachelor's degree in structural engineering or related field. Master's degree in engineering with a focus on structural engineering is Preferred. Professional Engineer License. Preferred. Membership to Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) or American Society of Naval Engineer (ASNE) is preferred.
