The accountant will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks, including financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, and analysis. This role requires technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepares monthly financial statements. Prepares and posts journal entries. Reconciles balance sheet accounts. Maintains fixed assets and depreciation/amortization schedules in FAS. Reconciles to subsidiary ledgers for accounts payable, accounts receivable, job cost, and fixed assets. Reconciles statements for bank accounts, debt, escrow, and accrued interest. Agrees and reconciles intercompany accounts to various entities. Reviews income and expense accounts for proper classification. Prepares financial statements including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statements. Submits financial package for review and approval. Prepares work papers, schedules, and documentation for investors, lenders, regulators, auditors, and tax preparers as needed. Coordinates preparation and review of reports as required by lenders and equity partners. May assist with maintenance of general ledger base account descriptions and detailed explanations of how each account is utilized. Develops and maintains documentation of processes and procedures. Entity Budgeting for Multifamily Business Unit: Works with team members to assist with budget creation. Calculates certain budget amounts and provides to the budget preparer. Converts cash-basis budget to create an accrual-basis budget. Maintains the multifamily budget templates. Relationship Management & Systems Actively cooperates with all internal service delivery partners to provide optimal service to customers. Follows up with internal and external customers on a regular basis to ensure their business needs and expectations are understood and are being met. Serves as backup to other accounting positions as assigned. Works with business unit, software vendors and other Hubbell teams to automate manual processes and implement identified project improvements along with troubleshooting system issues. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, CPA preferred. Two years’ minimum accounting experience. Proficient with software systems including Microsoft Word and Excel required. Yardi, Entrata, Sage 300 (Timberline) and/or Sage FAS a plus. Success Factors Sound analytical thinking skills, interpersonal skills, and management skills. Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and meet multiple demands on a limited timeline. Good interpersonal skills in negotiation, conflict management, and relationship building with service delivery partners including property managers and other team members. Ability to take specifications and implement details to achieve desired results.
