About the Job:
Cloudian is seeking a QA Engineer to join our Engineering team. As a team player, the selected candidate will take ownership of ensuring the quality and reliability of our hardware platforms and software applications. This will involve configuring hardware platforms, installing software, running performance tests, developing and executing test plans and test cases, identifying defects, and working collaboratively with the development team to resolve issues while keeping to the defined timeline.
To ensure success as a QA Engineer you should be highly gifted at mathematics, have a passion for design and testing and be willing to work in a variety of locations.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Platforms team on hardware qualification projects (appliances, drives, NICs, etc.)
- Assist in running performance tests (as part of hardware qual projects or for special projects)
- Perform Unix system administration and devops activities on behalf of the Engineering team
- Installation of OS, HyperVisor/Kubernetes, TrueNAS, Networking (Cisco/Arista/SonicOS), rack and stack, FRU swapping, monitoring
- Work closely with programmers on the design and testing of features
- Longer term, responsibilities will also include:
- White-box Server-Side level testing
- Develop automated tests to verify functionality of our fault tolerant highly available systems
- Critically think about how our customers will interact with our messaging products and turn those thoughts into test cases, action items and avenues of discussion
- BS/MS, or equivalent, in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 2 years of QA experience or equivalent experience
- Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux Systems
- Experience working with server-class hardware systems
- Experience running performance testing
- Experience working in a lab / colo.
- Needs to be willing to do work in the lab (config, racking, etc)
- Needs to be located reasonably close to our colo (in Santa Clara)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Well versed in scripting languages, such as Python and Shell
- Good written and verbal communication skill
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills
