The Assistant Dean of Students works cooperatively with the administrative team, counselors, teachers, nurse, staff, students and parents towards a positive and safe school climate. View Job Description Requirements / Qualifications Minimum Skills/Qualifications: Demonstrated sensitivity, knowledge and understanding in building rapport and trust with students, families, employees and communities of diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated leadership in building a culturally responsive school community. Knowledge of current trends relating to social/emotional health, substance abuse and restorative practices. Prior experience developing and implementing programming for students related to restorative practices is preferred. A bachelor's degree is required, and a master's degree is preferred. A candidate without a master's degree will be expected to finish a master's degree within three years. Experience working in Catholic education is preferred. Support and meet with students, parents and teachers in the restorative process. Lead restorative process conversations. Work with the campus community on restorative practices/methodologies. Coordinate and oversee parking procedures and the Start Smart safe driving program. Support student extra/co-curricular activities and events. Oversee daily attendance procedures and enforcement of policies. Oversee daily dress code and enforcement of policies. Review and enforce discipline policies. Maintain discipline records. Work with the Dean of Students and teachers on classroom management and provide professional development as necessary. Oversee/support sophomore, junior and senior orientation programs. In partnership with the Dean of Students and in consultation with the administrative team, coordinate emergency procedures and drills. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job the employee is sometimes required to remain in an office at a computer workstation and access information from a computer and use a telephone. The employee is required to be mobile to, from, and within both schools, as well as maneuver throughout the school facilities to attend meetings, briefings, and other work-related events. The employee may be required to conduct trips to, from, and within various city and county-wide locations to attend meetings or events. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
