Job Summary
Direct responsibility for U.S. and Canadian Credit and Collections Department. Manages department staff to ensure compliance with company policy and procedures. Maximize accounts receivable turnover and minimize customer credit risk while providing cross-functional support to increase sales and profitability.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Director, Accounting Services in the establishment of accounts receivable goals surrounding DSO, aging, collections, credit balances, etc. Prepare and provide aging reports on key customers to business segment management teams as well as executive teams.
- Direct supervision of senior credit analysts, including staff within our Shared Service Center in Santiago Chile, and indirect supervision of support staff. Ensure analysts are collecting on invoices and chargebacks, properly reconciling accounts, and working with the business to ensure application of the credit policy when releasing held orders. Includes staff mentoring, training and development of on-site and off-shore resources.
- Ensure consistent and proper application of company-wide credit policies. Interpret and communicate credit policies and procedures to support the sales function and customer service teams to minimize credit risk. This will also include analysis of credit limits for new customers, gathering supporting financial information to support proposed credit limit and collaborate with designated sales / operations team to determine accepted risk.
- Provide day-to-day staff support concerning credit/collection matters in addition to managing assigned customer accounts.
- Participation in order to cash projects involving credit / collection interests. Identification and implementation of process and process efficiency improvements.
- Develop relationships with the sales management and customer service management teams to ensure efficient processing of transactions and quick resolution of issues.
- Bachelor's degree in finance/business administration or related field preferred
- 8-10 years of business experience with a minimum of 5 years credit management experience in positions of increasing responsibility. Proven leadership and coaching skills.
- Experience with a Consumer Products company preferred
- SAP experience strongly preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, team building, and people skills
- Effective time management skills and problem solver
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and challenge current processes while offering solutions to create efficiencies
