Overview:

POSITION SUMMARY

Manages the Audiology Department in consultation with the Chief of ENT and Audiology. Responsibilities include staff recruitment and supervision, clinic protocol design, program development, and equipment selection and maintenance. Provides direct diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology care

Qualifications:

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Doctoral degree in Audiology (Au.D. or Ph.D.)

Certifications:

  • Arizona Dispensing Audiologist License (or equivalent from another state)
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech Language Hearing Association

Experience:

  • Two (2) years of Management and program development experience
  • Experience and proven excellence in diagnostic work in a medical setting and in amplification fitting
  • Provide respectful, effective and caring service

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL EFFORT

Physical:

Limited physical effort required. Work is performed in an interior medical/clinical environment and may involve exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions. Incumbent must be able to frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach; occasionally drive, climb, kneel, crouch, twist, and maintain balance. Incumbent must have the ability to lift up to 10 lbs. Must frequently have the ability for hearing normal speech near vision, , depth perception, far vision, seeing fine details, and telephone use. Must occasionally have the ability for color vision and hearing overhead pages over loudspeakers. Incumbent must frequently have hand manipulation ability to utilize a keyboard; simply grasping, fine manipulation firm grasping. Incumbent may be exposed occasionally to infectious diseases and chemical agents. Incumbent will occasionally be able to accept flexible schedule to meet unit needs.

Mental:

Incumbent must frequently be able to concentrate; work alone handle a high degree of flexibility. Incumbent must occasionally handle multiple priorities in stressful situation, demonstrate high degree of patience cope with high level of stress; make decisions under high pressure; cope with anger/fear/hostility of others in a calm way; manage altercations; adapt to shift work; and, work in areas that are close and crowded.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Manages the Audiology Department to include the supervision of staff
  2. Defines personnel requirements and position competencies for the clinic. Objectively evaluates/documents performance of assigned personnel and takes corrective action as appropriate.
  3. Maintain an effective corrective/disciplinary process; know the disciplinary action policy, rules of conduct, and corrective/disciplinary process of TCRHCC; inform employees of expected standards of conduct and performance; counsel and coach employees as problems occur; recognize the need for initiating corrective/disciplinary action and intervene in a timely manner
  4. Continuously monitors staffing levels and adjusts as appropriate to meet various clinical care and financial objectives.
  5. Monitors and reports revenues and expenses on an on-going basis. Takes appropriate action to ensure practice is within budgetary guidelines. Ensures appropriate information is gathered and transmitted in support of Revenue Cycle functions.
  6. Develops, plans, and schedules clinic workflow.
  7. Provides leadership regarding how to best meet audio logic needs of TCRHCC patients
  8. Ensures that protocols are consistent with standards and guidelines of the profession, and with efficient, quality patient care
  9. Directs program development, provides in-services and consultation to other health care providers, related professionals, and the community
  10. Selects and maintains clinical equipment. Maintains departmental data and records
  11. Provides diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology services to patients of all ages
  12. Follows established departmental and safety, environmental, and infection control standards
  13. Responsible for electronic health records data entry pertinent to patient service role
  14. Ensure proper PPE is worn at all times while on duty including but not limited to, face mask, gloves, gown, isolation gown, NIOSH-approved N95 filtering facepiece respirator or higher, if available), and eye or face shield.
  15. Complete all donning and doffing tasks in a safe acceptable method and discard of used PPE accordingly. (see CDC website for most current updates)
  16. Completes all electronic health record entries accurately and timely pertinent to patient care role.
  17. Participates in departmental workflow and or testing teams as related to electronic health record or other project initiatives.
  18. Performs other duties as signed
