EDF’s Internship Program welcomes intellectually hungry leaders to join us, advance our work, and cultivate the skills and relationships needed for a successful career working for the environment. Reports to
Grazeilla Scilliano- Senior Manager of Carbon & Engergy, Supply Chain
Overall Function
EDF has over twenty-five years of experience working with corporations to drive win-win solutions for the
environment and business. One of our flagship projects is working with Walmart for the past 10 years to drive improvements in the retail supply chain. EDF helped Walmart exceed its goal to remove 20 MMT of GHGs from its supply chain by 2015 and continued to push Walmart to set an even more aggressive target. In November 2016, Walmart announced a new target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in its supply chain by one Gigaton by 2030—this is the same as the emissions from the entire German economy for a year.
Using EDF’s wealth of experience working with corporate partners, we are launching a new effort: the GHG Retail and Consumer Product Goods Roadmap project.. Our past work has focused on one-on-one partnership with companies, but in order to catalyze industry-wide change, we want to find ways to reach morecompanies with innovative sustainability solutions, without requiring in-depth one-on-one partnership with each company. The GHG Roadmap project aims to provide companies, initially in the retail and consumer goods product sector, with access to the unique analytical insights and guidance that will enable them to effectively tackle GHG impacts in their supply chain. Related to the GHG Roadmap project is the Sustainable Supply Chain Solutions Center (SCSC), our online platform for disseminating real-world solutions for companies seeking to tackling environmental impacts in their supply chains as well as their own operations.
The intern will work closely with EDF+Business project lead as well as content leads for deforestation, agriculture, food waste, and energy to define needed analytical inputs and guidance needed to communicate pathways to address high-impact GHG mitigation opportunities. The intern will also help guide the development of those resources and identify partnerships that will lead to use of these resources by companies in the retail and consumer goods products sectors to tackle GHG emissions in their supply chain. This work will be closely integrated with the development of the SCSC. This project could include drafting one-pagers, webinars, toolkits, how-to guides,or other communications materials, as well as planning one-on-one meetings or strategy sessions with key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Tasks will include but are not limited to:
Work content leads for deforestation, agriculture, food waste, and energy to define needed analytical and other products that highlight high-impact GHG mitigation opportunities.
