TITLE: Middle School Athletic Director

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: -Valid teaching certificate for West Virginia Secondary Schools

-Coaching experience desirable in high school for at least three years.

-Such alternative to the above qualifications as the principal and Board of Education may deem appropriate and acceptable

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Principal

SELECTION: The position is filled by the Board of Education upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools

SALARY: Based on professional extra-curricular salary schedule

FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

  1. Responsible to the principal for such details as are required in conducting the athletic program of the school and for such reports, inventories, and information requested by the principal.
  2. Responsible for all policies as set forth by the Board of Education, Superintendent, and Principal.
  3. Responsible for submitting a financial report and the end of each month and yearly report.
  4. Responsible for developing and administering the athletic program budget in cooperating with the principal.
  5. Responsible for control and purchasing of all athletic equipment and supplies.
  6. Prepare and co-sign all checks related to the athletic department.
  7. Prepare all purchase orders for the athletic accounts and maintain that file.
  8. Prepare and file deposit slips.
  9. Prepare and file all receipts.
  10. Responsible for a complete audit of the financial records of the athletic department at the close of each school year for the county office.
  11. Responsible for scheduling all athletic events.
  12. Prepare contracts for all athletic events with other schools along with any financial agreements for the principal's approval and signature.
  13. See that all eligibility reports are made according to SSAC requirements and are sent to the proper schools.
  14. Study all rules and regulations of the SSAC.
  15. Responsible for all transportation, housing, meals, and other items that may present themselves.
  16. Attend all games, meets, matches, or meetings pursuant to the athletic program or appoint a representative t act in his place.
  17. Represent the school Booster Club meetings.
  18. Responsible for administration and organization for all home athletic contests including:
  1. Tickets, sellers, takers, guards
  2. Police protection
  3. Officials
  4. Maintenance (field and gym preparation)
FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
  1. Workers: Chain Crew FBAnnouncers FB and BBTimer BB
  2. Scorekeeper BB
  3. Scoreboard FB
  4. Dressing room facilities
  5. Authorizes all expenditures for contests including the guarantee.
  6. Issue complimentary passes for visiting team coaches, and necessary game personnel
  7. Secure ambulance FB
  8. Secure a doctor FB
  9. Provide concession stand operation for FB and BB
  10. Deposit all gate receipts the night of the game
  1. Act as an advisor to the coaching staff and stimulate cooperation between coaches, teachers, and administrators concerning the policies of the athletic department.
  2. Responsible for administering the insurance program covering school athletics.
  3. Keep the principal informed of athletic activities.
  4. Responsible for all public relations and advertisement of athletic events.
  5. Responsible for gathering doctor and parental consent forms in accordance with SSAC regulation.
  6. Make all contracts for game officials and see that they are sent to proper schools.
  7. Keep all contracts on file.
  8. Check all award winners and see that they meet the requirements and provide such letters.
  9. Responsible for the development of Athletic Council.
  10. Aid in the development of an intermural program.
  11. Perform other duties relative to athletics as assigned by the principal.
  12. Make arrangements for other school's of non-school use of playing fields and facilities when required.
  13. Direct a plan for providing for the physical examination of all athletes prior to the season.
  14. Help in developing a rapport with the junior high school.
  15. Act as an advisor and guidance to the junior high school relating to the development of our athletic program.
  16. Responsible for scheduling, game maintenance, and rule interpretations as set forth by the SSAC.
  17. Any days absence for official duties out of the building will not be substituted.
  18. Writes letters of recommendation to colleges and universities for athletics' scholarship consideration.
