Project manager

Holiday, United States Isotoma Full time

This is the perfect opportunity for someone looking to develop their project management career, working with expert architects, developers, and test analysts in building intricate front- and back-end applications using state of the art technologies. We'll provide a wide range of formal and on the job training and mentorship, allowing you to develop your skills as a project manager across a variety of projects of different sizes and technologies. We're building for the future

We're actively creating a diverse team and we welcome applications from all people, regardless of culture, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, age, gender identity or expression (or indeed any other characteristic whether protected by law or not). We want ours to be a truly inclusive environment, where everyone can contribute their best work and develop to their full potential. A fascination with the web is at the core of everything we do. You'll have at least eighteen months experience in a project management role, and might well have a degree or other formal training. Our project process is predominantly Agile, and we run our projects using SCRUM and Kanban as our core methodologies. However, it's horses for courses and you'll need to be comfortable with Waterfall too. We create intricate, beautiful customer facing applications that are used by hundreds of thousands of people every day, so the projects you work on will be used by real people in real situations immediately And you'll be working across a number of small, agile, highly collaborative teams with colleagues who want to help you succeed. The role is based in our York office, right in the heart of the beautiful city of York. As things slowly return to normal we're working in a hybrid manner, with most - but not all - of the team in the office anywhere from 1 day a week to full time. We'll support your preferred way of working, but at certain stages of the project lifecycle will expect someone in the Project Manager role to be in the office at least once a week for meetings with the team and with customers. Responsibilities

These are the sorts of things you'll be doing. We're all always learning, so don't worry if some of these things are new to you; comprehensive training and support are provided to help you grow and develop. Help elicit requirements during the early stages of a project, working directly with your customers to understand their business needs and help shape the applications we build Run a small number of projects simultaneously, ranging from £50,000 to £500,000 and from three to eighteen months in length Work closely with the lead developer on each project to ensure that work is correctly prioritised and assigned Take an active part in the Isotoma management team in ensuring that the right people are on the right projects Report to both the customer and the Isotoma management team on the progress of your projects Use tools like GitHub, JIRA and Confluence to coordinate your projects Ideally you'll have some agency experience, or at least understand the unique pressures that agency life places on budgets, timescales and customer relationships. You'll be working alongside our senior developers, management team and Project Director; people with decades of experience who want to share that experience with you and help you learn and grow. We'll provide formal training where appropriate, and provide lots of opportunities for informal learning, too. And the huge variety of work we do means you'll never get bored. In the last few years we've worked on everything from karaoke to ship-broking, from video-mixing to teaching doctors. Take a look at our case studies page to see some recent projects. We're proud of the careers we've helped progress; people go on to great things after they've worked for Isotoma. Recent Isotoma alumni have gone from us straight to Rockstar Games, Apple Music, BBC iPlayer, BBC News, Google, Zoopla, JP Morgan and Raspberry Pi. Salary from £27k to £45k depending on experience. We offer flexible working hours to suit your life outside work (and they're capped at 37.5 hours a week; we don't do overtime), generous holidays, a hefty contribution to your pension and private healthcare. As the pandemic recedes (we hope) we're starting to travel again, and the role will require occasional travel (by train, first class), sometimes outside your normal working hours. We'll make every accommodation to ensure this fits your other commitments. What we offer
