Job Purpose

If you are looking for a place where you can make a difference in the life of a child, Project Harmony is looking for you. We are seeking an experienced and committed Grant Writer/Coordinator to join our team.

The Grant Writer/Coordinator prepares grant proposals, adheres to timelines, completes funding reports and engages relevant staff in program grants, ensuring that all applications align with Project Harmony's vision and mission. The Grant Writer/Coordinator works closely with the Executive and Leadership teams to increase revenue by identifying foundations/government opportunities/organizations and corporations as potential funding sources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write high-quality grant proposal narratives, applications, supporting documents and reports to foundation, public and federal funders.
  • Maintain funding timelines and submissions for all program grants.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of grants, statistical data, grant contractual agreements and requirements.
  • Coordinate and communicate with Senior Director of Development, Leaders and Grant Committee regarding submitted, pending, awarded, and declined grants.
  • Coordinate and follow-up on the progress of submitted proposals.
  • Coordinate with team leads on post-award next steps.
  • Compile and complete annual membership applications, activities and periodic reports for the National Children's Alliance and the Nebraska Alliance of Child Advocacy Centers.
  • Responsible for researching and collecting data for each grant and report.
  • Work with agency leaders to obtain accurate information, data and financials for grant proposals.
  • Strategize program needs and grant requests with Executive Team, Program Directors and Grant Committee.
  • Assist in developing annual projection for foundation, public and federal funds.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Education and Training
  • Bachelor's degree required in Social Work, Public Administration, Journalism, Communication, English or related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
Work Experience
  • Prior work experience in grant research, proposals, writing and reporting required.
  • Work experience in child welfare and project management or related non-profit field preferred.
  • Equivalent education and experience will be considered.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to write successful grant proposals for foundation, public and federal funders.
  • Knowledge of grant and/or donor databases (e.g., Blackbaud Raiser's Edge, GrantHub, etc.)
  • Excellent written, oral and public communication skills with the capacity to engage multiple and diverse constituencies.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to understand, interpret and execute complex instructions.
  • Outstanding computer skills (Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with Leadership team, co-workers and other agency partners.
  • Self-starter with ability to set priorities and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of funding prospects (local, state and federal).
  • Excellent research skills.
  • Ability to understand the needs of both the agency and the funding source.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and confidence.
  • Exceptional work ethic.

  • Must maintain strict adherence to confidentiality policy and ethical practice.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours.
  • Must submit to a thorough criminal history background check.
  • Must have access to a vehicle, possess a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
  • Position may involve some travel, primarily within the state.
