**WHAT IS THE**

The Wage & Investment Division (W&I) serves about 122 million taxpayers who file upwards of 94 million returns each year. W&I provides high-quality taxpayer assistance, and enable taxpayers to transact and communicate electronically to file their returns and make payments. **See Other Information for Locations.**

**Responsibilities**

As an Inventory Management Specialist you will be responsible for the inventory management of specific published products. In this position you will be responsible for accomplishing a variety of inventory management duties: Maintain inventory on published products including print-on-demand, update computer systems to reflect inventory balance, receive/inspect/accept incoming shipments, establish reorder points, Dispose of excess or obsolete published products, analyze data, prepare statistical reports, and respond to incoming inquires

**As a Inventory Management Specialist you will:**

+ Analyzes and reviews inventory management practices within the Distribution Center. Incumbent follows the receipt, inspection, and acceptance procedures on behalf of the Government prior to placing published products into inventory.

+ Ensure incoming shipments of published products are inspected and documented within 24 hours of receipt 99% of the time. The incumbent will also ensure receipt, inspection, acceptance, handling, storage, fulfillment, shipping, and disposal procedures for security, serially numbered, and Official Use Only (OUO) published products are followed.

+ Clear, concise and timely replies to various incoming correspondence, including congressional inquiries, employee suggestions, field memoranda, etc. Analyze data and prepare statistical reports, charts, graphs, etc. to help illustrate and explain information formally requested or necessary for written and/or oral presentations.

+ Updates the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and other inventory and distribution system to accurately reflect daily inventory balance on hand for published products.

+ Calculating and establishing reorder points based on daily demand, lead-time, safety stock, and demand type (seasonal or non-seasonal).

+ Providing daily backorder data including product title, catalog number, the number of backorders by product types, and the total quantity needed to fill the backorders to the designated Government Program Manager.

+ Disposing of excess and obsolete published products following Government surplus and disposal procedures . If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

** Qualifications**

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

**GS-05 LEVEL:** You must have three (3) years of general experience, one (1) year of which was at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service. General experience includes: Experience with inventory management practices and distribution center operations. Experience with computer-based systems (i.e. Warehouse Management System (WMS), radio frequency (RF) equipment, Computer Assisted Publishing System (CAPS), Enterprise Logistics Information Technology (ELITE). Working knowledge of the inter-relationships of order fulfillment, transportation, and order entry. Experience gathering data for analysis. Knowledge of IRS organizational structures and responsibilities including, but not limited to Media and Publications, the distribution center, and various field offices.

You may substitute education for general experience as follows: Four (4) year course of study leading to a Bachelor's Degree at an accredited college or university in any field of study.

**GS-7 LEVEL:** You must have one (1) year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: Experience with inventory management practices and distribution center operations. Experience with computer-based systems (i.e. Warehouse Management System (WMS), radio frequency (RF) equipment, Computer Assisted Publishing System (CAPS), Enterprise Logistics Information Technology (ELITE). Working knowledge of the inter-relationships of order fulfillment, transportation, and order entry. Experience analyzing data to evaluate and recommend improvements and present findings to management. Knowledge of IRS organizational structures and responsibilities including, but not limited to Media and Publications, the distribution center, and various field offices.

You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: One (1) year of graduate level education at an accredited college or university in any field of study that is related to the position being filled.

**OR**

Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) may be met by having a Bachelor's degree, with one of the following: A GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all completed undergraduate courses or those completed in the last two years of study, or a GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all courses in the major field of study or those courses in the major completed in the last two years of study, or rank in the upper one third of the class in the college, university, or major subdivision, or membership in a national honor society recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies.

**GS-9 LEVEL:** You must have one (1) year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: Extensive experience with inventory management practices and distribution center operations. Extensive experience with computer-based systems (i.e. Warehouse Management System (WMS), radio frequency (RF) equipment, Computer Assisted Publishing System (CAPS), Enterprise Logistics Information Technology (ELITE). Working knowledge of the inter-relationships of order fulfillment, transportation, and order entry. Extensive experience analyzing data to evaluate and recommend improvements and present findings to management. Knowledge of IRS organizational structures and responsibilities including, but not limited to Media and Publications, the distribution center, and various field offices.

**OR**

You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: A Master's or equivalent graduate degree in any field of study that is related to the position being filled.

**OR**

Two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to any field of study that is related to the position being filled.

A LL.B. or J.D., if related.
