The Division is comprised of the Bureau of Maternal Infant and Reproductive Health, the Bureau of Early Intervention, the Office of School Health, and the Bureau of Administration. We encourage qualified applicants with demonstrated commitment to social justice, particularly racial, gender, and LGBTQ equity to apply.Duties will include but not be limited to:Under the direction of the Director/Deputy Director of Nursing, and with wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment, the Central Office Nurse will be responsible for the following:Performing as a member of a nursing team in Central Office.Preparing case findings, making referrals and conducting follow-up in conjunction with the central office nursing team.Assisting in providing health education to students and staff in schools, and advising families on proper health practices.Assisting in the general administration and development of the nursing program.Assisting in central nursing activities; staff development, recruitment, operations (SAVOY/supplies), Quality Assurance, Communicable disease occurrences , Special Nursing Services unit, and UPK.Assisting in interpreting policies and procedures specifically related to nursing program development.Researching, analyzing, evaluating and recommending changes in nursing activities.Collaborating with central office staff in reviewing and developing manuals, protocols, guides and other materials relevant to the administration of nursing services in the Office of School Health.Assisting with special projects and related task as needed.Qualifications1. A Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing from a regionally-accredited college or university or one recognized by the New York State Education Department as following acceptable educational practices; and 2. A license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment. Medical Requirement: Medical guidelines have been established for the position of Public Health Nurse. Candidates will be examined to determine whether they can perform the essential functions of the position of Public Health Nurse. Where appropriate, a reasonable accommodation will be provided for a person with a disability to enable him or her to take the examination, and/or to perform the essential functions of the job.
