Thomas & Hutton has an opening for an experienced Designer to join our Transportation Department in our Buford, GA Office.

  • Working at the direction of a Professional Engineer, prepare construction drawings, layouts, and exhibits in accordance with GDOT Plan Presentation Guide & Electronic Data Guidelines, and/or SCDOT plan preparation guide.
  • Make geometric calculations and estimate construction quantities using CADD tools.
  • Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
  • Qualified candidates will have experience using Microstation in the preparation of roadway plans using GDOT and/or SCDOT criteria.
Minimum Requirements:

Experience: 2+ years of experience in the field Transportation/Roadway Design

Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. EIT Certification preferred.

Skills:
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microstation V8, and Inroads or Geopak software applications.
  • Previous experience with Microstation preferred.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
  • The ability to work a regular schedule of 730AM - 530PM Mon-Thurs and 730AM - 1130AM Fri including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Proven ability to multi task, appropriately prioritize workflow and complete tasks
  • Highly client service oriented, self-starter, and team player
  • Ability to solve problems
  • Excellent time management skills
