Truss Designer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Truss Designer to create accurate and complete Truss Placement Plans and Truss Design Drawings for residential building projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with design software, CAD, and building codes, as well as excellent communication skills to work with architects, engineers, and clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Design roof trusses, floor trusses, and pre-engineered wood products with design software and CAD.
  • Follow building codes to ensure safety and meet industry standards.
  • Utilize advanced math skills for calculations and technical knowledge of CAD software.
  • Read and interpret architectural and structural plans, recognizing potential problems and visualizing solutions.
  • Communicate with clients during the design process and provide explanations and interpretations of designs.
  • Involved in repair designing, coordination of field issues, and communication with construction managers/superintendents.

Requirements:
  • Minimum 3-5 years of truss design and draft experience in the construction and building materials industries.
  • Highly proficient in MiTek software.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed.
  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Industry knowledge and experience in construction and building materials.
  • Ability to manage and complete tasks on time.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
