Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Dev/Research Engineer 5 in Chillicothe, IL. The work will be done 3 days onsite and the rest will be work-from-home. This is a long term contract. It can lead to permanent employment with our customer. Compensation is $145,000/yr + OT including benefits, vision, dental, health insurance, 401K and holiday pay. Cullerton Group will provide sponsorship.

This position requires a high degree of experience and expertise in manufacturing such as tool design, fixture design, and manufacturing technology. The candidate needs to have a good understanding of tool design to combine with process design expertise to provide for improved manufacturability of parts and major components.

This position will be working with tool design teams in Mexico and India to support factories globally. Provides direction and solve tooling needs and improve production productivity. Works with multiple groups in the development of tool designs to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective solution.

  • This position is actively involved with facilities and suppliers to analyze their current or proposed product/process designs to determine feasibility of using existing tooling or modifying the designs to improve process and/or product. Ensures Engineering, Purchasing and shop personnel both at company and suppliers are involved in the approval process so that sound decisions are made which improve manufacturing processes, quality and/or reduce costs. Uses knowledge gained through years of experience to explain to suppliers the tooling, dies, fixtures, etc., needed to improve processes.
  • Determines adaptability of existing corporate applications and prepares feasibility studies for new applications. Coordinates various existing systems and operations with new systems and operations to ensure compatibility and directs others to modify systems accordingly to implement total package.
  • Adheres to established standards, policies and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, etc., in performing assigned duties.

Education & Experience Required:

  • A BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronic or similar major) or 15 years experience in tool and die making

Technical Skills

(Required)

  • 5 years experience in Tooling Design
  • 5 years experience with Heavy Fabrication
  • Ability to travel internationally 30% of the time
  • Experience in Project Management

  • Experience in Machine and System Integration
  • Hands on Mechanical Aptitude
  • GD&T Experience
  • 3D Modeling Experience
  • Experience with Work Holding equipment
