About the job

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and career-minded Business Development Specialist to join our Global IoT organization where you will have the opportunity to work with the acknowledged leader in analytics, AI/ML, and IoT applications. We are looking for an experienced professional to focus on building partnerships and outcomes based IoT solutions in the industrial market segment. Many of the worlds largest industrial, transportation and manufacturing organizations are investing heavily in IoT to drive efficiency, capture value, and generate new revenue streams.

As a IoT Business Development Specialist, you will:

  • Create, develop and nurture IoT ecosystem partnerships and solutions for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)
  • Conduct market research to identify underserved segments with high potential to garner market share with new IoT capabilities
  • Identify and influence key stakeholders at all levels within partner organizations and SAS to build relationships, enhance SAS IoT brand, generate and develop ideas, and pursue opportunities that will result in alternate routes to market and increased revenue
  • Maintain company and Global Partner program standards including development of program frameworks to support new and existing routes to market for SAS IoT capabilities
  • Demonstrate value and trust-based business development and selling skills with a deep understanding of the customers needs
  • Develop and maintain the multi-year strategic account plan for strategic IoT partners to meet or exceed customer objectives and SAS sales goals

Role Competencies:

  • Initiates and coordinates business development projects and marketing activities with business partners as needed.
  • Creates demand generation and customer or business partner relationship management programs from content design through implementation and results tracking to ensure that objectives are met.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to customers and/or business partners at the highest levels of management.
  • Provides overall project management and coordination for customer and/or business partner specific initiatives. May direct internal Institute resources, including pre- sales and post-sales services, contracts, and/or partner relationships.
  • Works closely with sales staff and sales management to ensure successful engagement of business partners in services to customers and/or other business activities. Serves as a resource for Sales and Marketing account teams in all aspects of territory management.
  • Conducts follow-up with customers and/or business partners to track and uncover additional business opportunities.
  • Youre curious, passionate, authentic and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do.

Required qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in software/technology business development, sales, or pre-sales support.
  • Bachelors degree in business, engineering, or related discipline.
  • Domain expertise in the Industrial markets (Energy/Utilities, Manufacturing, Transportation, Infrastructure)
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Internet of Things, IoT use cases, and value potential driven analytics insights on connected industrial things
  • Demonstrated understanding of software sales, sales cycles, customer/partner relationship management, and strategic planning
  • Demonstrated understand of go-to-market strategies, complex commercial frameworks, and channel/ecosystem partnerships
  • An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.

  • Domain expertise in Energy/Utilities is a preference
  • Domain expertise is Federal, State, Local Government Infrastructure or Predictive Maintenance of Industrial Assets is also a preference
