****Job Purpose****

Our U.S. Regulatory Strategy team focuses on policy and regulatory strategies to support new infrastructure investments, products/services, utility business models, and innovative regulatory frameworks that support our long-term vision for deep decarbonization and customer affordability. We work closely with many different teams within National Grid executing our net zero ambition:

Reducing overall energy demand through energy efficiency and demand response;

Decarbonizing the gas network with renewable natural gas and hydrogen and the use of innovative technologies;

Reducing methane emissions from our own gas network while working with the industry to reduce emissions through the entire value chain;

Interconnecting large scale renewables with a 21st century grid while utilizing storage and enabling distributed generation; and

Advancing clean transportation.

The Lead Analyst is a key member of the US Regulatory Team, charged with synthesizing, developing, and disseminating regulatory priorities, emerging utility industry trends, and clean energy policy developments. This position provides an opportunity to develop deeper subject matter expertise related to our work supporting the achievement of our net zero ambition and build a reputation across the industry commensurate with that expertise.

Specifically, this team member will help develop and manage the creation and execution of regulatory strategy in support of clean energy and climate goals across our state service territories. The Lead Analyst will work closely with partner teams in customer, jurisdictional regulatory, government relations, legal, and communications as well as external stakeholders. As a result, this position requires a focus on utility, energy, and environmental issues and policies with an eye towards ensuring National Grids regulatory proposals align with our customers needs, our corporate values of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and our shared environmental goals.

Undergraduate degree required, such as in public policy, economics, environmental science, business, engineering, etc. Advanced degrees or certificates in policy, law, business or other relevant field preferred.

Knowledge and work experience related to energy and climate policy, and familiarity with utility regulatory practices and issues, renewable or clean energy standards, distributed energy resources, performance-based regulation, and emerging technologies such as renewable natural gas, hydrogen, and energy storage. Minimum of 5 years of related work experience preferred.

Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp complex and technical issues for a given domain, and identify policy, regulatory, and commercial implications.

Proven ability to communicate tactfully and effectively, both orally and in writing, and must be able to present information in a clear and concise manner to large groups, senior management, internal stakeholders, and external audiences.

Success working independently, handling multiple tasks, and determining priorities in a team environment balanced by an ability to collaborate effectively and translate smoothly across multiple disciplines or functional groups.

Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information for a broader audience.

Strong data analysis and visualization skills (including both quantitative and qualitative analysis)
