POSITION: CREDIT ANALYST

This entry level Credit Analyst position assists with the underwriting of Commercial loans for the Banks Commercial Real Estate and Corporate Banking customers. The Credit Analyst will receive training in the fundamentals of Commercial Credit, both on the job and through various internal and external resources. The Credit Analyst is responsible for identifying and understanding a borrowers credit risks and providing a thorough assessment of the Banks ability to mitigate these risks. Credit Analysts help prepare thorough loan underwriting packages for use in the commercial loan approval and review process. The Credit Analyst may also provide support, as needed, to other departments in the Bank, including but not limited to Commercial Lending and Risk Management.

Key Result Areas:

+ Spread financial statements of existing Bank customers and new prospects for the purpose of analyzing financial performance for new loan requests, as well as for annual reviews.

+ Maintain working knowledge of SBA program guidelines ensuring compliance with the SBA.

+ Perform analysis of financial statements, risks/mitigants, management, collateral, and guarantors (among other credit considerations) to determine viability of loan requests.

+ Prepare comprehensive written credit analysis summaries for new loan requests and annual reviews for decisioning based on designated Bank approval authority.

+ Identify industry trends and analyze borrower/prospect performance to develop an assessment of credit risks.

+ Develop comprehensive understanding of the Banks Commercial Lending Policy to prepare loan approval requests that adhere to the Banks underwriting standards and that accurately reflect the Banks commercial loan risk rating system.

+ Work closely with Loan Officers and Portfolio Managers to gather customer-related information to prepare written approval requests.

+ Support other credit risk management activities, including those related to internal/external audits, loan reviews, and regulatory compliance matters.

+ Assist Credit Manager with Credit Department reporting.

+ Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

+ Bachelors degree, preferably in business, finance, or accounting, or minimum of 5 years of banking/financial services experience.

+ Able to concisely articulate ideas both verbally and in writing.

+ Strong analytical skills.

+ Knowledge of commercial lending operations and regulations preferred.

+ Knowledge of Excel and Word, as well as ability to learn and adapt to internal bank systems.

+ Ability to work both independently and in groups.

+ Effective project and time management skills, with ability to multi-task.
