NIRA, Inc., a rapidly expanding women-owned small business, is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). You will work closely with government project managers to transition the National Airspace's (NAS) information dissemination infrastructure to a new foundation that leverages technologies like cloud computing, zero trust architecture (ZTA), and API management. In particular, you will facilitate the migration of existing services to the new infrastructure and address related technical, governance, and security issues, all while ensuring that critical information about the national airspace continues to be available to all airspace users. Key Responsibilities:
- Work with FAA programs to ensure a seamless transition of vital business services to the next generation network, maintaining continuity and service excellence.
- Assist with the development and configuration of new network environments. Work with network service providers to ensure the infrastructure meets FAA requirements.
- Collaborate closely with customers and operational teams to maintain and refine service protocols and deliverables in accordance with the latest industry standards.
- Partner with the Finance team to devise precise cost estimations for system enhancements and on-ramping, aligning financial and technical roadmaps.
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science, System Engineering or a related subject.
- 5+ years of experience as a System Engineer, System Analyst, Software Engineer or similar role.
- 2+ years of experiences with cloud computing environments such as Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Knowledge in API management, and open standards such as web services and Java Messaging Services (JMS)
- Knowledge enterprise application integration architecture, for example, Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in supporting major federal acquisition programs, particularly with the FAA.
- Experienced with security protocols and practices, ensuring data integrity and system robustness.
- Experience with IP network services.
This position is a hybrid role that requires a flexible schedule, with the expectation of working one to two days per week on-site in our Washington, DC office.
