Position Summary:

KES, Inc. is seeking Drafters/CAD Operators with knowledge and experience in supporting engineering and design efforts for US Navy Ships and Combatant Craft. In this role, the Drafter/CAD Operator will join the Combatant Craft Engineering and Design Services Division covering the functional areas of project management, research and development (R&D), science and technology (S&T) development, planning, acquisition engineering, integrated logistics support (ILS), in-service engineering, testing and evaluation, boat inventory management (BIM), and life cycle management for watercraft

Responsibilities:

The Drafter/CAD Operator may assist engineering and design personnel with ship/site checks to collect necessary data to support development of Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) installation and modification drawings for the US Navy Combatant Craft Division. The Drafter/CAD Operator shall develop 2D/3D HM&E drawings utilizing AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks under the guidance and supervision of Engineering and Design personnel.

Candidate would be responsible for performing the following:

  • Develop 2D/3D AutoCAD removal, modification, installation and arrangement drawings IAW applicable standards and specifications for various HM&E systems for the US Navy Combatant Craft.
  • Review ship as built and/or modification drawings to determine impact of proposed ship upgrades.
  • Coordinate drawing development work with other engineering and design disciplines.
  • May be requested to work at Government Site located at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek/Ft Story (JEBLCFTS).
Education/Licensure/Certifications:

Required:
  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Existing U.S. Government granted personnel security clearance or eligibility at the SECRET level preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED with specialized studies in Algebra, Geometry, Drafting/AutoCAD.
  • Must be willing and able to travel CONUS/OCONUS for ship checks as required.
Preferred:

AutoCAD Certification desirable

Knowledge/experience with SolidWorks

Experience:
  • Senior Drafter/CAD Operator 10+ years of electrical/electronic engineering and design experience which includes 2D CAD drawing development.
  • Junior Drafter/CAD Operator 0-5 years of electrical/electronic engineering and design experience which includes 2D CAD drawing development.
  • Must have strong computer skills and be proficient with 2D/3D AutoCAD, SolidWorks and Microsoft Office products.
Desired Specialized Experience:
  • Knowledge and experience working with Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Detachment, Code 83 Combatant Craft Group.
