Leads and shapes the Utilization Management (UM) Strategy for Astrana Health while providing management oversight in implementing, directing, and monitoring the Utilization Management Department functions, including prior authorizations, concurrent review, medical claims review, and appeals and grievances. Directs the Utilization Management Department, acts as a subject matter expert, and provides executive level advice and guidance on the Department’s functions and overall business operations. Directs, manages and supervises Utilization Management Department staff. This is a hybrid role where the expectation is to work both in office and from home on a weekly basis.

What You'll Do:

Develop and implement strategies for optimizing the utilization of healthcare resources while maintaining quality patient care Create, implement, and enforce UM policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements and best practices Provide strategic leadership, development, and supervision to utilization review department Lead and manage a team of UM staff Oversee the UM process which involves evaluating medical necessity and appropriateness of healthcare services, treatments, and procedures Monitor and evaluate quality of UM activities, ensuring compliance with established standards and identifying areas of improvement Utilize data analytics and reporting tools to track key utilization metrics, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to optimize resource utilization Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external stakeholders to promote understanding and support for UM initiatives Provide training and education to staff members on UM policies, procedures, and best practices Collaborate with finance and administrative teams to develop and manage budgets related to UM operations Minimum qualifications:
