Assistant Accounting Manager

This position will be a member of the Corporate Finance and Accounting team at SGS&CO's corporate headquarters in Louisville, KY, to the Director of Accounting. This position is looking for a detail-oriented individual who will take full ownership of their job responsibilities. The position requires knowledge of both Finance and Accounting principles, proficiency with Microsoft Excel, and ability to understand and utilize a financial system.
Currently, this position is hybrid with in-office meetings as required by management.
Essential Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Perform monthly closing procedures, including journal entries, analyzing, and reconciling accounts to ensure complete and accurate account balance
- Work with exchange rates and intercompany accounting/reconciliations
- Be responsible for direct staff reports
- Assist in other special projects and perform job duties, as directed by management
- Ability to be flexible and meet strict deadlines
- Support both corporate management and management in the field through monthly financial analysis
- Aid with the annual audit and help with requests from audit staff
- Effectively manage tasks and tight deadlines independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to interact and be a team player with all levels of employees and senior management.
- Superior quantitative skills.
- Excellent computer skills with the ability to learn new systems quickly and proficiently.
- Highly motivated individual with a strong desire to learn
- Ability to multi-task individually and in group situations
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements
- Strong accounting foundation and solid knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures
- Bachelor's degree required, major in accounting preferred
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA), preferred not required
- Three to five years of prior accounting experience required
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience in a multi-currency and multi-company global environment preferred, not required
