Description

The Emergency Services Manager develops and administers emergency service functions through the development and successful implementation of compliance standards, providing strategic leadership and effective supervision of departmental staff, and developing and maintaining successful relationships with clients, staff, and service provider partners.

  • Initiates planning to address the needs of the community relevant to CrossWinds' mission by translating broad strategies into specific objectives and action plans. Serves as an effective advocate for clients by coordinating with community agencies and within the organization to ensure delivery of professional and timely services.
  • Accomplishes departmental objectives and goals by researching opportunities and problems, allocating resources according to strategic priorities, establishing programs and processes, and evaluating and reporting results.
  • Provides clinical leadership for the department by directing and overseeing clinical processes of client treatment such as clinical assessments, diagnoses, clinical interventions, and appropriate client treatment discharges to ensure safety to clients and the community.
  • Ensures compliance with state-mandated access standards as defined by Kansas Department of Children and Families, as needed. Investigates discrepancies and issues that fail to meet accepted standards.
  • Implements protocols that promotes positive customer service functions within the agency. Provides effective leadership to department staff to promote and facilitate the delivery of professional and timely services to clients, families, agency staff, and visitors.
  • Provides direct emergency and individual therapy services to clients in psychiatric crisis.
  • Provides direct therapy services, including admission assessments, therapy needs, treatment planning and discharge planning for ongoing client needs.
  • Collaborates with other community service providers to achieve successful partnerships.
  • Serves as a member of the agency's organizational leadership team and helps develop and implement long-range goals, strategies, and policies in the agency mission to provide quality mental health care.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records of all client services, as defined by state licensing agencies, funding agencies, and Center standards and requirements. Submits daily scheduling, progress notes, treatment plans, utilization reviews, admission client status reports, timesheets, discharge, screenings/assessments and all work-related paperwork in a timely manner and in acceptable format as determined by agency requirements.
  • Oversees the Crisis House Coordinator who maintains functions of crisis house for both adult and children ensuring compliance with state compliance standards.
  • Oversees the Mobile Crisis Coordinator who supervises the Mobile Crisis Response team.


Supervisory Responsibility

Supervises staff in the Emergency Services Department, including the Mobile Crisis Response Coordinator, Intake and Emergency Services Therapists, and the Crisis House Coordinator.

Work Environment

This role operates in a professional office setting and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Language skills are required, including the ability to read, write, comprehend, and speak the English language. This position also requires the ability to interpret written materials, write reports and business correspondence, and effectively present and respond to questions.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full time position that requires non-standard work hours, including on-call hours and some evening and weekend shifts.

Travel

Travel within the seven county catchment area is required.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

Master's Degree from an accredited school of social work, counseling or psychology.

Preferred Education and Experience

Doctorate Degree in clinical psychology or related field.

Licensure/Certification

Licensure as a master level clinician with the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board. LSCSW or LP licensure is preferred.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Ability to work with persons with severe and persistent mental illness, serious emotional disturbance, and/or substance abuse issues, especially those experiencing a psychiatric crisis; minimum of five years' work experience in the human services field and previous supervisory experience is desirable; ability to successfully lead and direct a service department and its resources in an effort to support the agency mission; possess demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to react effectively in a variety of human service situations; possess prior computer experience in Microsoft Office programs and basic computer fluency to work within an electronic medical record system.
