Develops methods, requiring construction of equipment, cables and cable boards and/or records, manually or on computers, detailed process data as required. Specifies type and sequence of operations by reducing operations to work elements, motion patters, and machine cycles; indicating machine equipment, production facilities, tools and labor classifications to be used on each operation. Uses computer to generate information for use with automatic production equipment and produce flow charts as required. Determines and indicates material specifications for ordering purposes, estimates the cost of and orders all types of tools; reviews new designs and recommends changes which will provide for the most economical and simplified method of manufacture in accordance with quantity and quality required, predicating decisions on extensive knowledge of productive capabilities of machine equipment, tools and skills level of labor classifications to effect most efficient utilization of factors involved; investigates production problems of a mechanical, electrical, or mechanical-electrical nature to discern cause of trouble, and recommends possible solution such as modifying or revising production process, developing new tools or changing specifications; studies parts and assembly blue prints, wiring diagrams, and schematic drawings to become familiar with structural and operating details. May follow first piece through production lines to prove the process. May suggest floor layout plan for production setups. May initiate and/or supervise experimental or developmental work to reduce costs, improve quality for or meet manufacturing conditions.Basic Qualifications:Knowledge of Manufacturing Production. Personal computer skills including standard Microsoft Office programs. Familiarity with tool design concepts. Able to write concise, complete process instructions. Ability to work and communicate with design engineering, procurement, program management office and manufacturing personnel. Experience with Engineering development models.Candidate must be able to obtain a DoD Interim Secret Security clearance prior to starting this position. US Citizenship is required.Desired Skills:Knowledge of Military Specifications. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles to Plan, coordinate, and implement multiple process improvement projects. Able to work independently to instruct and train assembly personnel. Ability to refurbish returned electron assemblies a plus.General manufacturing skill required: Welding, machining, soldering and mechanical assembly of electronic assemblies. Experience programming/running automated equipment a plus.
