The Alternative Asset Manager is responsible for managing a team of analysts and setting the strategic vision to support the firms alternative asset growth.Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide career development support and coaching for direct reportsBuild relationships with cross-functional stakeholders to drive business decisions and positive resultsPartner with the fund operations and reporting team to ensure the full operational lifecycle of alternative assets is working efficiently and accurately across teamsLead and contribute to firm-wide and departmental value-add projects and present project findings to leadershipRoutinely prepare team volume metrics and present the takeaways to leadershipOversee and develop a process driven approach that ensures accurate maintenance and valuation of all non-marketable investmentsReview, research, assess and update valuations for alternative assetsPartner with investment teams to create new alternative assets and ensure timely and accurate reportingValidate alternative asset statements provided by fund companies to ensure accuracyEngage custodians, funds, internal portfolio management, client service and operational teams to resolve valuation issues, breaks, delays and other related mattersEscalate fair value pricing matters where valuations might be incorrect, and utilize judgement to determine resolution against pricing policies and guidelines. Present factual support and documentation to resolve pricing discrepancies with necessary stakeholders.Leverage financial and market knowledge to evaluate various pricing data points to determine appropriate action, execute updates to systems and provide data to support the recommended course of actionCollaboratively partner with client teams when on-boarding large relationships with complex alternative asset holdings and recommend proper courses of actionDevelop industry insights through proactive networking, conference attendance, and independent researchMinimum QualificationsBachelors Degree5 - 7 years experience managing a team5 - 7 years experience working with alternative investments, or fund accountingDemonstrated a solid proficiency and understanding of private equity and hedge fund securities, real assets, and possess a general knowledge of market mechanics.Strong level of attention to detail, proven ability to work under pressure with multiple priorities, and a sense of urgency is requiredAbility to remain calm in a fast-paced environmentStrong decision making, organization, and communication skills, both written and verbalEffective time-management, problem-resolution, and research skillsAbility to meet tight deadlines and escalate as necessaryDemonstrated experience with and knowledge of Microsoft Excel, specifically macros and v-lookup functionalityProven track record of process improvements using technologyProactive mentalityAbility to handle confidential material with utmost discretionAbility to work in an office location.Preferred QualificationsBachelors degree required; finance, accounting, or economics concentration preferred.
