Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Civil design, landfill design, and site layout; Geotechnical engineering analyses such as slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, seismic, and seepage; Geotechnical and environmental site characterization including exploration oversight in the field; Shallow and deep foundation design including bearing capacity, settlement, axial, and lateral capacity; Developing, installing, and managing instrumentation monitoring systems; Project/task management and proposal preparation support; Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates, and permit applications; Fieldwork associated with design and construction services; Monitoring civil construction projects; Based on your current level of experience, you may be asked to take on task-level or project management responsibilities, along with business development, and staff mentoring tasks. Education and Licensure: Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering. (required) Advanced degree in the same. (optional) Professional registration (i.e., P.E.) (optional) Skills, Experience and Qualifications: At least 5 years (7+ years preferred) of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) Strong fundamentals in geotechnical engineering theory and practice. (required) Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related software. (required) Experience with modeling/design tools such as AUTOCAD, Slope/W, Seep/W, Sigma/W, Slide2D, Slide3D, PLAXIS 2D, LPILE, and gINT; (optional) Regular fieldwork and overnight travel. (required) Excellent writing and communication skills. (required) Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required. Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel.
