Our internships offer opportunities in research, writing, database management, communications, and event preparation. During the internship, you will network with colleagues and senior-level executives while participating in educational and professional activities designed to enhance your internship experience. Internship Program Overview The Chamber Foundation Internship Program is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn at the world’s largest business organization. In addition to directly supporting a team in the organization, interns have an opportunity to participate in a variety of programming that will help build professional skills and networks. Daily responsibilities for interns typically include research, drafting memos or content, and event planning and support. Specific responsibilities vary by department and semester. The Chamber also offers programming each semester intended to provide professional development and networking opportunities for interns. In previous semesters, this has included a resume workshop, professional panel with Chamber experts, leadership luncheons, and more. This internship is scheduled to run from the week of September 9th to the week of December 2nd. This is a hybrid internship, with the in-person component being at our U.S. Chamber of Commerce HQ in downtown Washington, DC. This is a paid internship, where students may also receive academic credit if they meet the criteria set by their school. The hourly rate for this position is between $17.50 - $18.00 per hour. This hourly rate depends on the candidate's current graduate level. Programming Includes: + Intern Orientation – Get to know more about the Chamber and connect with other interns in the program. + Resume Workshop – Learn how to craft a standout resume and cover letter for your career next steps. + Internship Speaker Series- Learn from senior level leaders at the Chamber about their career journey and how their teams impact the greater work at the Chamber. + Networking Events – Connect with managers and senior leadership from across the Chamber as they share tips and tricks learned throughout their careers. + Intern Farewell – Celebrate and reflect on your achievements in the program with other interns from the program. Department Matching The Foundation is offering internships across several different departments that cover multiple career fields. After you submit your resume, it will be reviewed by one of our recruiters and if your skills match what we are looking for, the relevant department will reach out for an interview. Please review the departments below and in the application, you will indicate your top two department preferences. + Civics The Civics department focuses on civics, democracy, and the nation’s free enterprise system - crucial issues shaping the environment in which businesses operate, and their ability to prosper and lift communities. + Education and Workforce The Center for Education and Workforce is the place for business leaders to tackle the most pressing education and workforce issues facing our country. We mobilize the business community to be more engaged partners, challenge the status quo, and move education and workforce initiatives forward to fuel economic success. + Global Resilience The Global Resilience team prepares communities that are facing an increased risk of natural disasters, humanitarian crises, and public health threats. Businesses play an integral part in addressing these threats, and we give them the tools they need to prepare, respond, and recover to support the communities where they live and work. + Foundation Programs The Foundation Programs team plans, develops, and produces a wide variety of events and programs focusing on issues facing business now and in the future. + Foundation Communications & Graphic Design The Foundation’s Communications team leads the development and implementation of communications, marketing, and PR efforts for Foundation programs and events. They also collaborate with the Chamber creative team and agency partners to elevate our brand and design assets needed across all Foundation programs and events, including print, digital, video, and more. + Incubator The Incubator addresses the challenges communities will grapple with in the future that don’t typically overlap with the challenges they face right now.
