Job Summary
As a Purchasing Agent, you will be responsible for procuring materials, equipment, and services necessary for construction projects. They work closely with vendors, suppliers, and project teams to ensure timely delivery of quality products at competitive prices. This role requires strong negotiation skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of construction materials and processes. What you do
  • Identify project requirements for materials, equipment, and services based on project specifications and plans.
  • Source and evaluate potential suppliers, obtaining quotes and proposals as needed.
  • Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules with vendors to secure the best value for the project.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders and contracts to selected suppliers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
  • Review and negotiate contract terms, including warranties, payment terms, and delivery terms.
  • Maintain documentation of all procurement transactions and correspondence.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, monitoring performance and addressing any issues or concerns.
  • Communicate regularly with suppliers to track order status, resolve discrepancies, and expedite deliveries as needed.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and provide feedback to inform future purchasing decisions.
  • Monitor project budgets and expenditures related to procurement activities.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings through strategic sourcing, volume discounts, and alternative suppliers.
  • Work closely with project managers and stakeholders to align procurement activities with project objectives and budget constraints.
  • Ensure that purchased materials and equipment meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Coordinate with project teams to conduct inspections and quality checks on incoming goods.
  • Address any quality issues or discrepancies with suppliers to ensure timely resolution.
  • Maintain inventory levels of critical materials and supplies to support ongoing construction activities.
  • Track inventory usage and reorder points, replenishing stock as needed to avoid project delays.
  • Implement inventory control measures to minimize waste and optimize storage space.


Who You Are
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years proven experience in construction procurement or purchasing.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to establish and maintain relationships with suppliers.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in managing procurement documentation and transactions.
  • Familiarity with procurement software and tools, as well as MS Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
