This position is responsible for Managing the supply chain from purchase of materials through to delivery to the customer. This leader will work closely with the Director of Purchasing/Supply Chain to ensure raw material supply is in line with the plants requirements. Leading planning for the Rockford plant entails preparing and communicating production schedules for the plant. The Supply Chain Manager will also oversee the transportation team for the Rockford plant to ensure inbound and outbound trucks are managed effectively to ensure a smooth and well-organized logistics flow. Creates and maintains Master Schedules to establish sequence and process time of each operation to meet customer delivery dates. Works with Customer Service, Engineering, Manufacturing, Transport and Purchasing to optimize all resources in meeting customer requirements. Works to ensure on time delivery (OTD) goals are in line with the divisions operations and Sales metrics.

The Rockford Supply Chain Manager will also provide planning support for our Mendota, IL operations.

Additionally, the Supply Chain Manager will be a Key Process Owner (KPO) for the SAP implementation which should occur in 2024. This entails traveling for SAP training, communicating, organizing, and training all employees in Rockford, ensuring readiness for go live and thus a successful implementation.

Essential duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Performs all work in a safe manner; promotes and fosters a safe work environment.
2. Minimizes need for rework and strives for job done right the first time. Identifies and highlights bottleneck resources.
3. Plans and prepares production schedules for Rockford East and West plants, and oversees the team providing planning support for Mendota, IL.
4. Creates Master Schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
5. Communicates production schedules to all departments and works through any challenges meeting customer requirements.
6. Analyses planning parameters and plant capacity data.
7. Verifies actual manufacturing process planning parameters, tool planning parameters, and customer requirements. Where different, discusses with relevant departments as to understanding why.
8. Drives efficiencies in production to effectively organize staffing and to present a production plan that satisfies customer demands and keeps production running most efficiently.
9. Effectively manages the transportation team and partners with Business Unit resources to ensure carriers are effectively managed to minimize cost without compromising quality or weakening strategic partnerships with carriers.
10. Highlights on-time customer delivery issues before they become unsolvable.
11. Confers with customer service, management, and department supervisors to determine status of production and/or assigned projects.
12. Ensures any bottleneck resources are managed as efficiently as possible.
13. Expedites operations that delay schedules and updates schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
14. Prepares production reports.
15. Performs physical inventories as required. Compares them against SAP for accuracy and works with Production, Purchasing and Quality Control to shore up any deficiencies.
16. Works with Purchasing providing a forecast for raw materials and required stock levels. Identifies material shortages and excesses and, measures to minimize them. Works with Engineering and Finance to support the running of trial production orders.
17. Ensures that each resource has enough production process orders to eliminate interruptions in the production process.
18. Works with teams for the common good of the site and KINA overall.

Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or equivalent required. Previous work experience or an apprenticeship in a production facility.

Must have:

• Experience with business computer applications (Microsoft Office).
• Experience with MS Office Suite, planning software Preactor and SAP. A good understanding of forecasting and inventory planning skills.
• Strong leadership skills, analytical, and problem-solving ability.
• Strong organizational skills; strict attention to detail; ability to multi-task and prioritize.
• Strong communication skills, effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
• The ability to deal with highly complex issues and to stay calm when under pressure .
• Strong math, time management, organization, and Manufacturing Requirement Planning (MRP) skills.

Must be able to:

• Adapt to a complex, ever changing work environment including adopting a flexible approach and reacting positively to changing circumstances.
• Interface effectively with all levels of employees.
• Represent schedules to all levels to maximize understanding by all.
• Project a positive can do attitude to the teams when communicating schedules.
• Prepare reports and communicate with all levels of employees with any potential problems and schedule deviations.
• Travel up to 25% or as needed for the SAP implementation and/or to support Mendota, IL while adhering to the Travel & Expense policy.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Must be able to communicate orally and written in English.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures by using complex math skills. Ability to convert lengths and weights quickly and accurately.

Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
