We are looking for a talented Civil Engineer to join our Roadway team in either Springfield or Champaign. The ideal candidate for this role will be a Professional Engineer with experience working on local agency and/or DOT roadway design projects. Lochmueller Group is a regional engineering consulting firm with an emphasis on infrastructure. We provide multi-disciplined services for a variety of public agencies and private entities, including transportation design; water resources design; environmental analysis & permitting; construction engineering & inspection; traffic engineering & transportation planning; surveying; and land acquisition & appraisal. Our transportation design team offers a variety of services, but most of our work involves roadway and bridge design for various local public agencies and state DOT's.

In this position, the candidate will:

    • Support project managers in the planning and execution of roadway design projects.
    • Assist in the preparation of project proposals, budgets, and timelines.
    • Conduct engineering analysis and design for assigned projects.
    • Designs complete projects or components of a project and prepares complete project documents.
    • Apply engineering techniques, methods, and design criteria to support project execution.
    • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project goals are met.
    • Prepare and review project documentation, reports, and specifications.
    • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
    • May assign work to junior engineers, technicians, or administrative staff.
    • May be involved in the mentorship and development of junior level staff.
    • May perform other duties associated with this role.
Qualifications for this role:
    • Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or a closely related field.
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
    • 4+ years of progressive civil engineering experience.
    • Proficient in project scheduling tools and software.
    • Strong verbal and written communication and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
    • Commitment to quality and excellence.
    • Ability to work individually or as part of a team.
