Position Title: Development Officer Department: Clayton Center for the Arts

Title of Immediate Supervisor/Leader to Whom This Position Reports: Interim Executive Director for the Clayton Center for the Arts

*Expected Daily Work Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm *Expected Weekly Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, weekends and evenings for events and performances

* College offices are normally open from 8:00 AM until 5:00PM, Monday through Friday. However, due to the nature of responsibility to the student body, individual offices or departments may have operating hours that extend beyond this period and may include evening or weekend hours. Non-exempt employees will normally work 8 hours per day.Overtime (any hours in excess of 40 per week) for non-exempt employees is required to be approved, in advance by the department supervisor. Exempt employees will typically work at least 40 hours per week and such additional time as may be reasonably required to fulfill the obligations of their position description. Such additional work may include evenings and weekends and should be described in this document.

The Clayton Center for the Arts, located in the heart of Maryville, is a destination for arts and culture in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Effective fundraising is not just a key element; it's an opportunity for you to make a real difference. We're seeking an innovative, savvy, community-focused fundraiser who understands the importance of arts philanthropy and is ready to join us on this exciting journey.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education required to ensure success in this position:
  • Bachelor's degree in a business related field, such as finance, business administration, marketing, data analytics, or communications, required.
Experience required to ensure success in this position:
  • Experience in personally soliciting gifts from individual donors and corporate sponsors
  • Experience in fundraising databases, event management software, and ticketing
  • Experience in donor prospecting and analysis
  • Experience in arts philanthropy and volunteer management
Special skills, knowledge and abilities:
  • Superior organizational and communication skills.
  • Professional integrity, including a thorough understanding of confidentiality.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Awareness and understanding of theatre or arts center spaces and programs, a plus
  • Ability to effectively work and building relationships with a diverse range of cultures and backgrounds.
License, certification, or registration necessary:
  • Valid driver's license, required.
Physical requirements:
  • Ability to navigate campus/public buildings and grounds.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
  • May be required to sit or stand for long periods.
  • Occasional travel required.
Environmental conditions:
  • Standard theatre setting.
  • Available to work weekends and evenings as needed.
Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment:

Primary duties and responsibilities (Typically ~7 primary duties comprising 80% of the responsibilities):

Fundraising
  • Personal solicitation of individual donors and corporate patrons for annual gifts of $500 to $25,000
  • Manage all elements of the Clayton Center Patrons Member Circles, for donors of $500, $1000, and up
  • Collaborate with Executive Director to set fundraising goals and manage the annual fundraising program
  • Create and manage a leadership prospect portfolio for the Executive Director to solicit top-level gifts
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to establish the CCA Annual Fund to support programming and arts community initiatives
  • Grow the number and level of CCA Sponsors, from personal solicitation to managing all agreements and benefits
  • Plan and executive fundraising and donor cultivation events
  • Actively plan and collaborate with CCA Advisory Board on fundraising initiatives
  • Liaise with Maryville College Grant Manager to raise and help report on grants
Reporting
  • Record, track, and analyze all prospect activity, pledges, and gifts to the Clayton Center for the Arts
  • Collaborate with Maryville College Advancement team to manage communications and solicitations calendar
Communications
  • Develop donor communications plans including newsletters, email communications, or social media
  • Ensure website and social media is accessible and accurate for CCA donors

Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty and students.
