**Description**

The position of Buyer is responsible for managing vendor relationships, purchasing activities, and maintaining component inventory levels within budgeted value, inventory turns and service objectives.

Key Responsibilities include:

* Drive vendor management and purchasing activities

* Management of inventory levels to meet production schedules

* Generate POs for new products from operating (MRP) system

* Develop and maintain purchasing strategies to ensure inventory objectives and obsolescence goal are met

* Ensure sufficient stocked quantities are maintained as authorized to achieve production and customer support demands; utilizing all available tools including, safety stock, reorder points, J.I.T. deliveries and forecast demand

* Responsible to resolve billing issues related to pricing and quantity discrepancies communicating the resolution to the Plant Controller and suppliers

* Expedite material purchases as needed to ensure service levels are provided to internal and external customers

* Maintain master data specific in operating system relating to pricing, lead-times, lot size, etc.

* Ensure proper transportation mode by vendor is utilized at a PLZ-approved rate

* Understanding of changing commodity markets which affect pricing and availability for items required for production

* Attend and provide feedback during production, new product and specification change meetings; discussing availability and potential supply concerns

* Oversee vendor stocking programs for changes in demand patterns and conversions, adjusting agreements accordingly

* Coordinate quarterly inventory counts with the operations and plant controller

* Host meetings as appropriate with vendors, maintaining open communication regarding lead times, quality standards, service levels and product availability

* Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

* Bachelor degree required

* Minimum of three years experience in related material procurement position

* Experience with chemical purchasing is a plus

* Continuous improvement mindset

* Self-starter with ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

* Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite

* Experience with ERP systems preferably SAP
