We are seeking a
Staff Accountant
for an immediate opportunity with our Florida Orlando Office team which supports capital improvement projects for water and wastewater for a large public agency.
Candidates must possess solid leadership, administrative, organizational and communication skills. Recent graduates with a bachelor’s degree and internship experience will be considered.
Duties & Responsibilities
Perform month end close and journal entries.
Maintain and reconcile journal entries.
Maintain monthly bank reconciliations.
Ability with reconciling month end balance sheet accounts.
Implement, maintain, and adhere to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP.
Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process, which includes monthly financial close workbook preparation.
Assemble journal entries and thorough account reconciliations.
Analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management reporting.
Required Qualifications & Education
The successful candidate will minimally hold a BS/BA Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.
A minimum of one year of work experience in accounting strongly preferred.
Experience in Munis software or other governmental software / ERP is a plus
Must be a self-starter that is reliable, responsive, professional, and have the ability to maintain long-term relationships with clients and other business professionals and handle confidential information with discretion and trustworthiness.
Exceptional verbal and written communication and superior active listening skills.
Must be learning oriented and adaptable.
Must be detail-oriented, demonstrate a positive attitude, willingness to learn and to work on various assigned tasks as needed.
Must be creative and have the ability to build upon acquired knowledge.
Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite and Excel required, including Pivot Tables.
