Job Description

Under the direction of the Property Controller, the Staff Accountant I projects and supports daily workflow by creating summary spreadsheets for daily information output while ensuring that general ledger accounts are reconciled. The successful candidate will also prepare management accounting reports; work on special projects as needed; and perform multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and promptly.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. Additionally, the person must possess and adhere to the following core company values:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Timely and accurate recording of entry-level journal entries in accordance with the corporate closing schedule
  • Research and document retrieval to support Senior Staff
  • Timely and accurate preparation of entry-level assigned balance sheet reconciliations
  • Timely research of reconciling items with exceptions reported to Senior Staff for review and consultation
  • Collects and Deposits Cash
  • Balance Daily Reports and research and correct errors
  • Daily Bank and Credit Card Reconciliations
  • Meets with Brinks
  • Bank Count of the Main Safe
  • Pull back up documentation for credit card disputes
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • Must have an Associate Degree in either Accounting or Finance (Accounting strongly preferred)
  • Minimum of five years experience in a month-end close general ledger environment
  • Hospitality and/or Timeshare experience is a plus
Skills/Knowledge
  • Ability to manage time well to assist with financial reporting department deadlines.
  • Assertive and driven. Must possess excellent multi-tasking skills.
  • Entry-level knowledge of various accounting software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software with an emphasis on Excel
  • Highly Organized and Detail oriented
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Ability to work independently and in a group environment (team player)
