This clinical supervisor, reporting to the Director, Inpatient Services, will be the supervisor for the Family Birth Unit staff and will collaborate with the Clinical Supervisor, ACU & ICU to supervise the Acute Care Unit staff. While not regularly required, this leader must also be able to work in both the ACU and FBU.

Qualifications:
  • Current Washington state RN license in good standing
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and NRP required
  • BSN preferred
  • Five years of experience in labor and delivery required
  • Leadership/supervisory experience preferred
  • Knowledgeable about appropriate practice acts including the Nurse Practice Act, Health Care Assistant Act, etc., and regulatory agencies

Responsibilities (please refer to the job description for full list):
  • Provides leadership of staff in areas of coaching, mentoring, and standards of care and practice to maintain, develop, and enhance the operations for assigned areas of accountability
  • Performs staff competency evaluations and provides input to the director for staff annual performance reviews
  • Provides feedback and makes recommendations to the director regarding performance management and disciplinary issues
  • Plans and coordinates with the director budgeting requirements for personnel, performance of work, supplies, and equipment
  • Responsible for cost controls to ensure maximum effectiveness of funds expended from the approved departmental budgets
  • Supports and develops the Acute Care Unit and Family Birth Center staff in the coordination of work assignments, and training and development
  • Ensures adequate staffing with patient census. Coordinates/Schedules staff to include all leaves. Reviews staff time and ensures accuracy for payroll purposes.
  • Participates in the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of new employees
  • Coordinates and facilitates huddles and staff meetings
  • Maintains continuing quality assessment, improvement analysis, and evaluation of patient care delivery and communicates with the director on the activities/issues of the inpatient care services
  • Initiates and participates in problem-solving, policy-forming conferences for patient care services
