Townsen Memorial Hospital is looking for a full-time Charge Entry specialist for our facility in Humble, Texas. The Charge Entry role is responsible for ensuring that all charges performed in the facility are accounted/ captured and billed accordingly in a timely manner. The purpose of this role is to ensure that all patient medical information, especially billing and insurance information is accurate. The Charge Entry is primarily responsible for multiple steps across various departments and needs to be included in daily routine. Identifying, Analyzing, and reconciling billing errors, with review between supply chain and the clinical surgical services team members

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Responsible for entering Billing and Insurance Data into computer system
  • Monitoring data entry of patient demographics and authorizations obtained.
  • Enter correct quantities of the charge codes used, the correct OR times, as well as the correct surgeons into the system to ensure the billing will be accurate.
  • Initiates charge corrections as appropriate. Determines corrective action and make necessary updates to resolve errors for appropriate billing of claims
  • Communicate any inaccuracies or challenges identified immediately to management to meet policy and timely charge capture.
  • Knowledgeable review of documentation to support charges with a good understanding of anatomy and medical terminology according to coding/billing and documentation guidelines as applicable to state and federal guidelines.
  • Verifies accurate pricing when purchase orders are received and confirmed of supplies for a billable charge.
  • Receipt of documents- charge tickets with the necessary information on it from materials management and other departments for supplies ordered from outside vendors (implants etc.), and quantities of supplies during procedures
  • Submits requests to management for new charge codes to be assigned a charge amount and added to the fee schedule for billing to occur.
  • Reconcile charges daily to identify possible missing charges and ensure accurate and timely charge submission for services rendered in assigned center(s).
  • Proactively reviews schedules and patient census to ensure that all services are closed out/ for each day
  • Communicates effectively with nursing staff regarding missing or incomplete charges for resolution and corrective action while working within and across multiple centers in collaboration management.
  • Appropriate reconciliation tools will be used daily, including charge reconciliation reports, other clinical documentation tools to ensure the documentation is in the EMR to support compliant billing.
  • Assist in monitoring billing compliance and may assist in conducting staff educational sessions as appropriate
  • Assists with collecting and summarizing data related to special projects
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrates ability to audit and review accounts for reimbursement based on knowledge of billing regulations, medical terminology and coding requirements.
