Mid-Level Systems Engineer for Space Weather Satellite Programs

INNOVIM is seeking a Mid-Level Systems Engineer to support NOAA's Office of Space Weather Observations (SWO) in providing engineering and program management to satellite flight projects, domestic and international partnerships, and data exploitation initiatives.
SWO is responsible for space weather flight projects from formulation to deployment and performs project management, systems engineering, scientific analysis, and other acquisition duties. SWO cooperates closely with other NOAA offices, federal agencies, academia, foreigner technical agencies, and other scientific and technical institutions.
***This position is located in Greenbelt, MD. Hybrid, 3 days onsite***
Candidates will assist SWO in the following activities:
- Earth and solar science sensing instrument evaluation
- Environmental observation requirements collection, validation, and management
- Research to Operations and Technology Transition Planning
- Formulating external data exploitation initiatives
- Formulating and managing data simulation and impact studies
- Flight project formulation
- Public outreach
- Translation of NOAA observing requirements into SWO mission requirements; validation of mission observation requirements; collaboration with other government agencies, academia, and industry regarding engineering trade-offs and impact on requirements satisfaction, and documentation of requirements.
- Supporting the development or non-traditional methods for acquiring environmental data to meet requirements.
- Supporting the development of ground services for space weather data acquisition and processing
- Market research into available data sources; analysis of potential impact of data; and developing agreements for acquisition of data.
- Assessing and documenting mission need and objectives; managing project requirements; and assisting in generation of project documentation
- Generation of presentation materials; presentation of NOAA related topics at various external forums; and assisting in organization of OPPA conference programs.
- 5 years of experience in Systems Engineering
- BS in Engineering or related field
- Antenna, mission and/or product services experience
- Strong presentation and writing skills
- Experience using MS Office Suite, Google Suite, Visio
- Procurement support
- Familiarity and knowledge of the full spectrum of earth observing data products and services which various NOAA Data Centers delivers to the public and private industry users who utilize this data for awareness, research, and decision making
- Familiarity with Cloud-based data processing
- Experience with Satellite Systems
- Experience in Satellite Ground
